Financed by the BMZ and implemented by DEG (Deutsche Investitions- und Entwicklungsgesellschaft mbH), the Zurich-based company gebana AG completed a three-year strategic project in West Africa in October 2019. The company, which trades in organic products from all over the world and cooperates directly with thousands of small farmers, conducted numerous training courses in Burkina Faso, Benin and Togo on organic farming, organic certification and processing of organic agricultural products such as cashew, mangoes, cocoa and soya. In addition, modern communication and payment systems were introduced for direct contact with small-scale farmers.
